Thanks for sharing here and truly enjoyed your articles. Can I know which Altcoin dominance index you've used in the above chart? from tradingview the only one I could find is OTHERS.D INDEX which includes ETH in the altcoin space. I supposed the chart you used above didn't include ETH? Thank you vm.
Cheers Roger. This is a very fluid concept, but I'd say top 10 are certainly Large Caps, with Top10-20 being lower Large Caps/upper Mid-Caps. This market is changing so quickly; a few years back $1bn market cap was a Large Cap for example. Now, one could argue that promising Mid Caps have that market cap.
I've seen different ranges thrown around for mid to micro caps. Would you generally agree with the following ranges?
Large caps: $10bn+ MC
Mid caps: $1bn - $10bn MC
Small caps: $100m - 1bn MC
Micro caps: ~$100m MC
So essentially when ~$100m MC projects start rallying it's time to 1) completely liquidate or strongly decrease exposure to small and mid-caps 2) start decreasing exposure to micro caps.
This is an unbelievable piece of writing. Thank you Rekt. I’ve read many money flows since I joined crypto mid 2017 but this piece is by far the most detailed and well laid out.
Absolutely. Price has a funny way of working out what buttons to press to force our hand into making an emotional decision. Whether that's a big green candle, "safe" price action that lures us into a false sense of security, or like you said - boredom!
Great read highlighting the money flow in the crypto space!
There is a "money flow" in almost any "traded" / "exchanged" style market (real estate, equities, etc.), but I think it is widely underestimated in terms of importance (I'm guilty!).
Thanks Roger, glad you enjoyed it! Agreed, really important to understand this behaviour. After all - it's all about psychology. Whether that's in the patterns on price charts, the seasonality in Altcoin movements, or even the cyclicity across entire market cycles - the better we understand this psychology, the sharper our edge in the market

Great informative stuff here. What market cap do you consider Large? Top 10 cryptos? Top 20? And what is considered small?
